Like most businesses, Real Dentistry has had to make some changes in how we operate during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Our focus as always is to provide exceptional care and to maintain the health and safety of all patients and staff. To reflect this, we have introduced new protocols to three key areas: patient contact information, social distancing, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Real Dentistry is asking all patients coming in during level 2 to fill out an online medical history form. This form also includes a declaration surrounding the patient’s contact with COVID-19, and asks for contact information. It is important that we have up-to-date contact information for all visiting patients should the need for contact tracing arise. Our computer system accurately tracks patients coming in and out of the practice, and we have a sign-in sheet for all other visitors.

In an effort to maintain social distancing, we are keeping the waiting room as empty as possible. We ask all patients visiting us during level 2 to remain outside in their cars until we are ready to bring them through into the surgeries. When patients enter the clinic, we take and record their temperature with a contactless thermometer as another precaution against COVID-19. All surfaces in reception are disinfected between each patient to further prevent the spread of germs.

The New Zealand Dental Council (NZDC) has determined the appropriate PPE for our team to wear when dealing with patients. This is specified to the level of risk the patient poses and to the type of care they are receiving. The PPE worn by our staff protects both our team and our patients, and prevents the spread of germs through the various areas in our clinic.

We are thankful to our patients for complying with our new safety measures and for their continued support during this difficult time. We operated on an emergency-only basis during the lock-down, but now we are at level 2 we are able to provide all levels of dental care. From check-ups to whitening to toothache, we are accepting bookings for all appointments. If you are in need of an appointment please call our team on 04 387 9392, or email info@realdentistry.co.nz or you can book online through our website.

Stay safe!
