Dentures

Missing teeth?

When you have missing teeth you may find it difficult to eat and speak. You may also not like the appearance of your smile. Dentures are a versatile dental prosthetic used to replace missing teeth. From a single tooth to a whole jaw, dentures can be made from various material to suit any lifestyle. Dentures are removable and can be taken out at will. Ensuring a correct fit will help keep them in place in the mouth, however, a little denture adhesive may be needed. For a more secure fit dental implants can be used for the denture to clip into.

How are dentures made?

Dentures can take anywhere from 2-10 appointments. Moulds are made of the mouth and your existing teeth will be shade matched. This is sent to a denture technician who works alongside the dentist to create the perfect denture for you. The denture will be tried in, sent back for adjustments, and tried in again several times to ensure the best fit. Dentures can be made from acrylic (plastic) or metal. Acrylic dentures are usually cheaper but aren’t as durable or comfortable as metal. The teeth on the denture will be matched to your existing teeth for a natural appearance.
